à l'occasion de la mise en œuvre de mon projet de mémoire de DNMADE, j'ai traité le sujet du mouvement Memphis et de son impact sur le design graphique aujourd'hui. Ce mémoire questionne la reprise d'éléments de mouvement d'art dans la conception actuelle et le potentiel dévoiement des idées émises à l'origine par ces courants. J'ai comparé le Memphis (un mouvement de design et d'architecture à l'apparence très colorée, excentrique, ludique et aux meubles peu pratiques) à la tendance Néo-Memphis (aux couleurs plus douces qui se veut plus confortable et fonctionnelle) popularisée grâce à l'expansion d'Internet. L'objectif de mon étude est ainsi de voir comme le Memphis s'adapte au design graphique et ce qu'il peut y apporter, son emploi dans l'identité visuelle peut rendre une création plus fantaisiste ou émotionnelle par exemple. J'ai finalement présenté mon étude à travers un éditorial de 19 x 29,7 cm avec un papier paillette pour les couvertures ainsi qu'une reliure à spirales plastique coil pour un aspect moins uniforme, plus divertissant et offrant une manipulation autre.
For my DNMADE dissertation project, I tackled the subject of the Memphis movement and its impact on graphic design today. This thesis examines the revival of art movement elements in current design, and the potential misappropriation of the ideas originally put forward by these currents. I have compared Memphis (a design and architecture movement with a colorful, eccentric, playful appearance and impractical furniture) with the Neo-Memphis trend (softer colors, more comfortable and functional) popularized by the expansion of the Internet. The aim of my study is to see how the Memphis adapts to graphic design and what it can bring to it. Its use in visual identity can make a creation more whimsical or emotional, for example. In the end, I presented my study in the form of a 7,49 x 11,7 inches editorial, with glitter paper for the covers and a plastic coil binding for a less uniform, more entertaining look and different handling.
